Joanne Lowery was born in Cleveland, Ohio and has lived in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Indiana before moving to the best midwestern state, Michigan. Her poems have appeared in many literary magazines, including Birmingham Poetry Review, 5 AM, Passages North, Atlanta Review, Poetry East, Poet Lore, Parting Gifts, and Spoon River Poetry Review. Her books include Heroics from Avisson Press, Double Feature and Seven Misters from Pygmy Forest Press, Leper Woman and Other Poems and Medusa's Darling from March Street Press, and three thematic chapbooks from Snark Publishing. Her manuscript Diorama won the Poems & Plays 13th Annual Tennessee Chapbook Prize
