East of it now in Baltimore
I hear a shutter bang in Malibu.
I smell burning. You have to baffle
the barbecue on the north side or
sheer heat will scorch the trellis.
In summer I always put zinnias along
the back rail to say Hello as you come
in from the car. I see them now
here in Baltimore, I see the sand,
and, fog, west wind, crabs, seaweed.
Intruder, for your own sake take
some sea spray in your hair, wet your feet,
sea salt on your lips, and for my
sake, latch the upstairs shutter now.
