River Styx 2

Our second-ever print issue, published in winter 1977. 

"River Styx 2 concerns itself with the spirit of 'the primitive' in modern poetics. Material is arranged thematically; the work of individual writers may thus be found in a cluster or scattered throughout according to the holistic needs of the magazine. If read sequentially the work moves from the themes of Creation & Aftermath to Totem Animals & Identity to Histories. These themes were not preconceived but emerged from material offered in response to the editor's vaguer & vaguer definitions of 'what we wanted.' Thanks to the many people, represented here directly & indirectly, who contributed to this gathering. A special thanks to Jerome Rothenberg for his inspiration along the way.
